TheMoonDay.Com…Premiered in 2007, I Am Legend is a post-apocalyptic zombie film adapted from the novel of the same name by Richard Matheson and starring popular actor Will Smith. After 15 years, a new report has revealed that I Am Legend 2 will be in the works soon, after seeing the success of the live action version of The Last of Us on HBO which managed to depict a post-apocalyptic world after decades.
Last year it was revealed that Warner Bros. has started the development of a number of films that were previously successful in the market. One of them is I Am Legend 2 which is predicted to return starring Will Smith and the new actor Michael B. Jordan.

Akiva Goldsman, who previously acted as one of the producers and screenwriters for the first film, is now back to give updates to fans that his team will soon be working on a sequel that fans have been waiting for a long time.
I Am Legend 2 is inspired by The Last of Us and brings back Will Smith
In his interview with Deadline, Goldsman revealed that the sequel to I Am Legend is one of two major projects currently being worked on with WB. “Right now we have started two exciting projects. Namely the sequel to I Am Legend, with Will [Smith] and Michael B. Jordan as the stars, as well as the sequel Constantine with Keanu Reeves which will be directed by Francis Lawrence,” he said.

Goldsman further explained that “[I Am Legend 2] will begin with a story that takes place some decades later than the first film. I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we can see a post-apocalyptic world with a span of 20-30 years. You can see how Earth is taking over the world again. I don’t know if they will ever go up to the Empire State Building, but the possibilities are endless.”
Even though Goldsman has given a few leaks about the timeline, the question now is how Will Smith’s character can come back to life in I Am Legend 2, considering that in the first film he made a heroic sacrifice.

It seems that Akiva Goldsman really intends to continue the alternative ending of the first film by depicting Smith’s character as still alive, while still referring to the original material. Since the project has just started, let’s just wait for further developments, geeks.
